The Road to Jacob's Well

A "road" tune, which is to say, a melody to whistle or hum while walking from one place to another.

I composed it on the way to where I give pipe lessons, and afterward hold practice with a new band now forming up that I am helping out.

Thursday nights in case anyone wants to drop in, or join up. Hey, we've got an ex-Glaswegian pipe-major who comes.

David,
Nice wee chune!.......I tried moving the third part up to replace the first part......sort of a intro to the tune........give it s try and see if it flows the way you intended........either way it sounds bloody lovely!.......Cheers, Mark

Mark,
I certainly don't have a problem if anyone wants to make such a switch. I did try it, and it is as fitting an intro as the original arrangement. I'll poke at it some more to see if I want to "make it official."

I like most 4 part 4/4s without repeats. This seem right, or is this tune overwith too quickly?

Personally I would put repeats in the tune.....it grows on you the more you play or hear it..........I found myself whistling it at work today....Definitely a tune I would recommend to add to ones play list.
I LOVE the third part......just can't get past it......very well done!!!!!

I am hardly qualified to suggest improvements, but I sure do like this tune just the way it is. It has been following me around work.
I am a bit curious about the name. It conjurs up visions of ancient Hebrew people traveling to Jacob's Well for some sort of tribal gathering. Neat!

Thanks Dick! Tunes are for enjoyment. Happy to hear this one, as it dropped out of the sky and wrapped itself up in less than half and hour, give-or-take playing around with grace notes.

I like the heavy, rhythmical "effect" pieces, but then, afterword, I have just got to have a "whistler" to sink my teeth into.
