Here's a new hornpipe i wrote today 4 my daughter amber.

you wrote this in just 1 day? Sounds great - lively and playful indeed!
I was just wondering, how is this embellishment between B and E (code: "edre") supposed to be played? When I lift just the middle finger between the two Low A's, a logical shortcut, then I get F natural instead of an F#. But I see no other feasible way to play this.

edre is a piobreachd movement, you play e gracenote then a f gracenote
the way ive written it is eg on B fg on LA, but theres other ways to play it
(all on low A is easier) Start off slow and build up the tempo, play B then eg on to LA then fg still On LA then E.

yes, that's what I've been referring to. It's easy to play the F gracenote between those 2 Low A gracenotes by lifting the left middle finger only, but by doing this I get an F natural.
If I play the F "properly" (lifting the middle finger AND ring finger), then I get F#, but then the edre takes me ages. Or is it really just a question of "building up the tempo"?

the f in the movement is just a mormal gracenote
like a G D or E. so i would just build up the tempo until
you are comfortable and playing it correctly.
