The Guardian

And yet another wee ditty. Celtic Pipes needs to be tweaked a fair bit to get it to play the embellishments as they should be, not too crushed, but otherwise it does a fair job all round, don't you think? The Guardian - make of it what you will - to me it's reminiscent of a comfort, something one fe...

A wee bit of a tussle, perhaps!

A melee is a bit of a confused fight, a tussle or tiff or a disturbance, a rumpus, a commotion.

This wee tune isn't confused, I don't think, but the title came to me whilst composing it, so it stuck!

Hooray for stuck.

Everything you are or do has a key element, right?

The main component to anything is crucial, right?

Another phrase for the crucial, main component is the title of this tune.

Re: Seudan Luachmhòr

Hi there. I cannot help but notice some of your note groups do not add up to a dotted crotchet, your time signature rule, indeed some are more and some are less, so this makes for a tricky one to render. Do you have an audio file of your intended tune? I am very happy to help out with the score from...

There's a wee boat in the water!

There's a wee boat in the water, It's called 'Col Iso Ell'. From whence came this curious craft, now swaying on the gentle swell. 'Col Iso Ell', a name of curious hale. Perhaps it's from a far off land, from which adventurous tales abound; Or yet, maybe from a port less grand. 'Col Iso Ell', such in...

Muse - that force which gives one inspiration

Muse - that force which gives one inspiration.

I reckon most people will have a muse of some description, even MacLowrie.

More to see now

A view from South Queensferry across the Forth.

Written back in the day - 2014, when there was less to see (only two bridges).

Now, though, more crammed into the picture with the new Queensferry Crossing added, so quite apt a title and style.

Those Days Now Past

Thinking of those days now past!

Somehow forgot to describe as a slow march.

Simply done

Very simply, this tune just developed yesterday and today, as is often the case - sheesh! :)

Wrote this today

Well, sometimes the clue is in the title, and I wrote this today, Friday 16th November 2018, and it was a braw day.

Eh, the MP3 is a wee bit slower than usual, but the software is not altogether playing ball today.

October in the Rain

Rain can make you feel like it's cold out there, but just now the rain is falling and the temperature is not too unpleasant, which just leaves to getting your brolly out without the arctic clothing, which is nice, in a strange sort of way, with which this tune I am trying to portray. I could have ca...

Re: Maria

Hi, I cannot help but wonder if the tune does progress in complexity, but misses a few tricks, like throws added in the 3rd part and the birl in the 3rd part written from the B's as a birl with the low A gracenote added (abr instead of brl in Bagpipe writer Gold, for example), with a G birl in the 4...

Re: Holiday 2018

Hey, Dan, you could very well be right, but if you'd stayed in the campsite there, with the trains passing every half hour or so almost 24/7, which wasn't in brochure by the way, you'd need more than this as a lullaby to get to sleep. Otherwise, a pleasant holiday was had, when I wasn't dozing off i...
